Jaisim Shah, MBA
Jaisim Shah is serving as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Affairs for PDL BioPharma since August 2000. Between 1997 and 2000, he served in various marketing management positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, most recently as Vice President, Global Marketing for Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Neuroscience and GU franchise. Between 1991 and 1997, Mr. Shah served at Roche based in Basel, Switzerland as Global Business Leader for oncology and virology. Mr. Shah received his M.A. in International Economics from the University of Akron and his M.B.A. in Marketing from Oklahoma University.

Nagesh Mhatre, Ph.D.
Nagesh S. Mhatre has over 35 years of senior management experience in international medical technology companies, including Miles Laboratories (Bayer, AG.) and Becton Dickinson & Company. At Becton Dickinson, he served as corporate vice president and president of the company's Immunocytometry Systems Division. Becton Dickinson today is recognized as the leader in the Flow-Cytometry field worldwide. Prior to this, he spent three years as President of Becton Dickinson Laboratory Products, Europe, in Grenoble, France. At Miles Laboratories, he served four years in Rehovot, Israel as managing director of Miles-Yeda, a joint venture with the Weizmann Institute of Science. Under Nagesh’s leadership, Miles-Yeda won an Outstanding Exporter of the State of Israel Award in 1973. In 2007, Nagesh joined The Halo Fund III Management Company as the Industry Consulting Partner for Medical Technologies. He is also a member of The Angels’ Forum. Prior to joining the Halo Fund III Management Company, Nagesh has served in the initial development phases as Chairman and CEO (interim) of several startup companies: NuGenesis Technologies Corp., a company that developed and marketed data warehousing and data mining for pharmaceutical research groups; MicroSure, Inc., a medical device company; Strategic Solutions Group, an e-learning company, specializing in systems solutions for training and service for large corporations and US government agencies and Metrika, Inc., a developer of medical diagnostic technologies.

Historically, he also served on the boards of Quidel Corporation, a medical diagnostic company, and NitroMed, Inc., a nitric oxide delivery systems for cardiac stenosis company. Nagesh was founding Chairman of Guava Technologies, Inc. which developed a flow metric system that is the first Personal Cytometer (Guava- PCA) for quantization in the bioanalytical field in human and veterinary sciences. Currently, he serves as founding Chairman of BioImagene Corp, which recently acquired Scimagix, Inc., which he also founded. He served as Executive Chairman of Alpha Innotech Corp., which provides integrated systems tools for functional genomics. He initiated two new startups – Cytoplex Biosciences, Inc., which explores chip technology for cell physiology, and Vista Biosciences, LLC, a developer of a novel continuous glucose monitoring system.

He serves as a Trustee on the Board of World Affairs Council, San Francisco. He is a Charter Member and was membership chair (1998-1999) of Indus Entrepreneur-TiE Silicon Valley. He has been a member of the Boards of Governors of Silicon Valley Capital Club, Heidelberg International Club, San Francisco, CA. and Friends of Weizmann Institute of Science. Dr. Mhatre received his B.S. degree from Bombay University, India, an M.S. degree from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry/microbiology from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J.

N.B. Nand Kumar is the Founder and CEO of a privately held UCA group of eleven companies with a total revenue base of $260 million, employing more than 2000 team mates in the US, UK, India and China with offices in South America, performing sales, service, manufacturing and assembly activities of industrial equipment for customers like McDonalds, Kraft, Kellogg’s, Nestle, Tyco, Caterpillar, Emerson, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.

Mr. Nand Kumar was the Chief Engineer of Investment Casting foundry in Dallas Texas from 1974 -1983. Mr. Nand Kumar ventured on to become an entrepreneur to build and service quality industrial equipment and systems world- wide by exporting from the US more than $75 million dollars in revenues to the Global - Fortune 500 companies. Successfully implemented quality programs to get ISO and Six Sigma certifications thru out the group.

Mr. Nand Kumar has set up R& D centers to upgrade robotic and thermal engineering equipment in the field of food and medical technology. Mr. Nand Kumar has cultivated relationship with many banking institutions to grow the business by starting new businesses in different locations, mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Nand Kumar has acquired hands on knowledge in evaluating future growth opportunities by conducting and monitoring extensive due diligence activities in the financial and core synergy business areas.

Mr. Nand Kumar received degrees in mechanical and industrial engineering from Texas Tech University, and he is married to a physician, practicing Internal Medicine and Endocrinology with two children in college.

Chitra Sekaran, MD.
Chitra Sekaran is a board certified pediatrician and endocrinologist with extensive pharmaceutical product development experience in the pharmaceutical industry in addition to clinical practice and teaching. Dr. Sekaran is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at Cornell Medical College in New York. Dr. Sekaran brings unique combination of extensive medical affairs and clinical research experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Sekaran is well versed in the U.S. and international drug development issues and regulatory concerns. Dr. Sekaran has also held positions as Senior Director of Medical Affairs/Clinical Research at Astellas Pharma, PDL BioPharma, KOS pharmaceuticals, NPS Pharmaceuticals, Sanofi-Synthelabo, and as Medical Director at Hoffmann-La Roche in the United States. Dr. Sekaran brings vast experience of drug development in the areas of obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular areas, hyperlipidemia, rheumatology, and infectious diseases. Dr. Sekaran has also developed close rapport with several key opinion leaders globally in many therapeutic areas. At Sanofi-Synthelabo, Dr. Sekaran played key role in successfully launching a blockbuster category cardiovascular drug Plavix (Clopidogrel®) for two major indications in the United States.

Ignatius Thomas, MD.
Ignatius Thomas is the founder and President of Cardiology Institute, a six-physician cardiology group in Slidell, LA. He had been actively involved in Cardiology practice in addition to teaching and clinical research. Dr Thomas established Medical Research Institute in 1994 and has conducted over one hundred clinical trials for U.S. and international pharmaceutical companies. He has published several research articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. His areas of interest include congestive heart failure, hypertension, coronary disease, and metabolic syndrome. Jayraman Rao, MD.
Jayraman Rao is a Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience, Carl Baldridge Chair for Parkinson’s Research, Director of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Rao has been actively involved in the medical practice in addition to teaching and clinical research. Dr. Rao has travelled widely to various U.S. and international centers to give talks on Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. Dr. Rao is the author of a book, author/co-author of 12 book chapters and has published over 45 research articles in noted peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Rao has been conducting clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders and has completed over 30 clinical trials so far U.S. and international pharmaceutical companies. Maninder Hora, PhD.
Maninder Hora is serving as Vice President, Process Development for PDL BioPharma since 2006. Before PDL BioPharma, Dr. Hora was Vice President of Process and Product Development at Novartis Pharma AG (formerly Chiron Biopharmaceuticals) in Emeryville, California. In this position, Dr. Hora led a large group of scientists and engineers who performed all activities relating to process, formulation, assay and device development of proteins, antibodies and small molecules for preclinical, clinical and lifecycle development stages of drug development. Prior to this, Dr. Hora held pharmaceutical and drug delivery-focused positions of increasing responsibility within Chiron. Dr. Hora served as a key member of various teams that successfully registered eight drugs/vaccines in the U.S. and Europe during his 20-year tenure at Chiron. Dr. Hora has also held positions at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline PLC. Dr. Hora completed his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Washington, Seattle prior to joining the industry.

Marc Cantillon, MD.
Marc Cantillon is a double board certified by American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, Geriatric, an executive with 15 years drug development experience and Chief Medical Officer at Wellness Management LLC., a global drug development consultancy based in New Jersey. Dr. Cantillon is also advisor to Bill Gates Foundation for drug licensing and third world development. Dr. Cantillon was consulted by pharmaceutical, biotech and venture investment firms that include NPS, Impax, Praecis, Bayer, Schering, Lilly, Pfizer, Elan, Sofinnova ventures, Polaris for clinical, licensing and regulatory matters. Dr. Cantillon has expertise in translational and development in diverse therapeutic areas broadly from infectious disease, HIV and osteoporosis but core expertise in the central nervous system area mainly anesthesiology, analgesia, neurology, and psychiatry. Dr. Cantillon has extensive U.S. and global clinical trial experience. Dr. Cantillon has also held position at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Synthelabo Pharmaceuticals (merged with Sanofi) and Astra-Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. He helped Seroquel®, Effexor® development and their global registration in the blockbuster category.

Dr. Cantillon has co-produced two educational video films/documentaries related to psychiatric illness with APA group which won Emmy Award, National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences plus second prize, American Film and Video Festival, Chicago, both for “Through Madness” documentary on psychosis in 1992. Dr. Cantillon is an author/coauthor of 24 research articles published in the peer reviewed journals and two books.
